The blade is long at 10 1/2 inches and is thick and wide. A guard and bolster made out of a single piece of brass makes the Laredo Bowie sing in your hand with every swing. This particular Laredo Bowie is made with vacuum heat-treated VG-1 San Mai III® steel and has a beautiful polished Micarta handle that is contoured to fit the hand comfortably without slipping. The blade on the Laredo Bowie is flat ground with a sharpened false edge on the back side of the blade. Cold Steel demonstrates the use of the Laredo Bowie on a You Tube video which showcases this massive knife cutting through a 2 x 4 13 times and it stills shaves hair off the arms afterwards. Cold Steel has capitalized on Edge Retention and cutting power with the Laredo Bowie. On top of all this... the Cold Steel Laredo Bowie is just downright "pretty".
